Feb. 4 – Campaign Caravan for Community Control Over the Police!
Join our Peoples Campaign Caravan through CD8 to elect Cliff Smith and win Community Control over the police! This is the last action before ballots are mailed to voters. Spread the word!
13 year old Devin Brown was shot 10 times by LAPD officer Steven Garcia at 83rd and Western in District 8, Feb. 4, 2005, sparking the creation of the Coalition for Community Control Over the Police and the Community Call to Action and Accountability (CC2AA).
16 year old AJ Weber was shot 16 times by Sheriff’s deputy Gregory Van Hoesen on 107th and Budlong, Feb. 4, 2018. AJ’s family lives in District 8. Both teens were unarmed. No consequences came to the killer cops. This is why we fight for Community Control over the police!
We are running for City Council to amend the city charter to enact Community Control Over the Police. This is the only way to bring justice, accountability and transparency to public safety in Los Angeles. The police cannot police themselves!
The caravan will meet at Latasha Harlans Park (8800 S Hoover St) at 9:00 AM, and will end with a demonstration at 83rd and Western at 12 PM.
